FRACKVILLE - The borough revitalization group needs
revitalization of its own.
Frackville Downtown President Paul Klevis has issued an appeal to
community groups and to all citizens interested in the future of Frackville
to join with the revitalization group at its next meeting. The meeting
will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at Frackville Borough Hall, next
to the Good Will Hose Company, on South Balliet Street.
"The revitalization committee needs to have more
people involved in the process of revitalizing our community,"
said Klevis. "Community leaders, or anyone interested in being
a part of the exciting metamorphosis that will take place in Frackville,
are encouraged to attend and get involved. It is a process that is
not simply for or about the downtown, even though that is where the
bulk of the projects will originate."
According to Klevis, the committee's work is to enhance
a once proud and magnificent downtown, which at one time was the envy
of all of the other communities in Northern Schuylkill County.
"If we, as a community and unified body of people,
are to play a significant role in the future of all of Schuylkill
County, we need to come together as one voice to plan and carry out
a process that brings a new life to Frackville and the downtown,"
Klevis said. "We are not only the crossroads to the Upper Schuylkill
region, but the gateway to all of Schuylkill County and beyond. Revitalization
is, therefore, not a choice, but our destiny."
Klevis and the rest of the revitalization committee
extended an open invitation to all to attend the group's meetings,
not only to find out what is happening, but also to become an active
and involved part of the process.
"Revitalization is simply a call to everyone for
unity, and we need to move ahead as one community, one voice speaking
for the future of our hometown." he said.
