MAHANOY CITY - Members of Mahanoy Downtown Inc. are
continuing plans for an active summer season to raise community awareness
about their efforts to revitalize the downtown.
A community wide yard sale will be held beginning at
9 a.m. May 19. Anyone wishing to participate in the event must pay
a $5 entry fee to have their location placed on the map. Maps, food
and souvenirs will be available in front of the Downtown Center the
day of the event.
Plans are also coming along for Night at The Boardwalk.
Food, novelty and craft vendors are invited to participate in the
June 30 event.
The group decided to host a dinner theater Labor Day
weekend as part of Upper Schuylkill Homecoming. The show will be held
at the Elks.
President James J. Rhoades Jr. told the group that four
downtown business owners have expressed interest in the facade program,
and he is encouraging anyone interested to schedule an appointment
to review the procedure with Eric Lieberman.
MDI has $15,000 in grant money to use for the program.
Guidelines and applications are available at www.upperschuylkill.com.
