Photo contest highlights Shenandoah
05/25/2007
The Downtown Shenandoah Inc. revitalization
group is sponsoring a photo contest titled "Shenandoah Then &
Now."
While the submitted photos, which will become the property
of DSI, will eventually grace the entrance and other areas of the
group's new headquarters in the Anthony P. Damato American Legion
"Medal of Honor" Post 792 building at 116 N. Main St., the
contest will benefit participants with cash prizes for winners.
While the submitted photos will become DSI's property,
originals may be returned by request with a stamped, self-addressed
envelope. The limit is three submissions in each category per entrant.
DSI will award prizes in two categories - Shenandoah
Then and Shenandoah Now. The first-place winners will receive $50
each and the second-place winners $25 each.
Participants are asked to provide their name, phone
number and address with each submission and, if possible, identify
any people, buildings or landmarks in the photos, the photographer
and approximate year taken.
With the Then & Now theme, DSI will be able to
show how the community once was and how it can become through widely
supported revitalization.
The display is sure to make the DSI office a downtown
must-visit for local folks and visitors.
For more information, contact DSI at its headquarters
or call President Valerie E. Macdonald at the Caledonia Antiques store,
114 N. Main St., adjacent to the DSI office, at 462-4494.
But hurry, the deadline to enter is June 2.
