Ringtown advances revitalization
05/23/2007
The Main Street Ringtown Inc. revitalization group
will meet at 6:30 p.m. today in the social room of Aurand Memorial
United Methodist Church and it's inviting the public to attend and
participate in planning to advance the borough.
Ringtown is among six northern Schuylkill boroughs
pursuing downtown revitalization under the umbrella of Upper Schuylkill
Downtowns and its efforts at community betterment deserve support.
Main Street Ringtown's president, Julian J. Milewski,
said the agenda will include the implementation of the Challenge Grant
program of the borough's Main Street, with the target area including
eligible businesses and homes on Main Street between Fourth Street
and the Ringtown Mill.
The local group, he said, is earmarked to receive $15,000
in the first year of a four-year program under the USD umbrella.
Any resident who received a flyer is urged to attend
and ask questions about the matching grant program aimed at facade
improvements, Milewski said.
Interested residents wishing to schedule an eligibility
interview should contact the design committee by calling Milewski
at 889-5123.
The group will also discuss fund-raising events, including
a flower sale for the Memorial Day season.
Milewski said Main Street Ringtown is especially interested
in the borough's historical aspects and he urged residents with similar
interest to participate.
