'Savor the Flavors' unique
08/19/2007
Talk about a unique effort for the Upper Schuylkill
Labor Day Weekend Homecoming.
From noon to 4 p.m. Sept. 2, the Downtown Shenandoah
Inc. revitalization group will sponsor Savor the Flavors of
the World.
It involves the old world charm of Shenandoah
while you savor food and music from around the world, according
to Upper Schuylkill Downtowns, the umbrella revitalization group for
six northern Schuylkill boroughs.
During the event, American cuisine will be featured
by the Oyster Bar, 113 S. Main St.; Greek food at the Vernalis restaurant,
32 S. Main; Italian specialties at Lunas DiMaggio, 28 N. Main;
Polish food at the Lyric, 33 W. Centre; Mexican fare at La Casita
de Familia, 8 E. Centre and Chinese flavors at Ming Guan, 18 S. Main.
Locals and visitors will have the option of having an
entire meal at one of the eateries or visiting all of them for appetizers,
entrees or desserts.
This is a great idea by DSI for more than one reason.
Of course, connoisseurs who appreciate international
flavors wont want to miss this.
But also, DSIs out-of-the-box thinking has
drawn attention to the unappreciated fact that Shenandoah can offer
such varied dining opportunities.
